Kolkata

Located in the small town of Birbhum district, near Bolpur, Shantiniketan is known for the Visva-Bharati University. It has been the home of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Apart from the tranquillity of nature you get in this place, it opens avenues to various forms of art and cultural activities. People practice painting, sculpting, and singing and dancing in this place. It is known for its Poush Mela held in December and Basanta Utsav during Holi in March.

Bishnupur

West Bengal has always been a historical place, with various ancient structures. One such area would be Bishnupur. It has some of the most beautiful and ancient temples that date back to the 15th century. Situated in the Bankura district, this place has the rich terracotta temples and Baluchuri sarees.

Sundarban

It is surrounded by Muriganga river on the west and Raimangal rivers on the east.  It is also a recognized as an UNESCO site. The Sundarban Tiger Reserve is known for the highest tiger population in the world.

Darjeeling

West Bengal also gives you the experience of a hill-station. Visit Darjeeling for its outstanding viewpoints. You can catch a glimpse of the Kanchenjunga from here. Along with the hills, you can visit several tea estates, white magnolias, red rhododendrons, different species, the exciting Toy-Train, and various British era buildings.
